Shidachi
KEY POINT! This is the only kata in which Shidachi takes
kamae first! Why? Because Shidachi cannot see Uchidachi
but senses that someone is there.
Take kamae
(similar to Kasumi, but rotate right, with lead hand to behind
the head.
As Uchidachi
advances (runs) at you, Block his cut, but striking between his
eyes (same as Midare dome and Ran-ai.)
Strike the tachi.
Step forwards
with left foot and block the cut, stabbing abdominal region.
Hikiotoshi Kamae.
Honte uchi (don`t
move your feet!)
Hikiotoshi Kamae.
Chudan Kuritsuke.
Bring left foot
forwards parallel to right (Heisoku dachi), hands at each end of
the jo.
Right foot steps
back, and strike (left hand leads). Me Tsuki. Osame.
Uchidachi
Call out the
name of the kata. Allow Shidachi to take kamae first.
Take similar kamae
as Shidachi. (From Hasso kamae, rotate right.)
Take 2 slow steps
forward quietly. Then advance quickly, and make a right cut to
the neck.
Shidachi blocks
your cut, and strikes the tachi down. Where? Into your feet.
Draw back into
Hasso kamae. Make a left cut (which is blocked by Shidachi.)
Step back into
Hasso kamae as Shidachi strikes Honteuchi.
Strike shomen. (Shidachi
does Chudan Kuritsuke.)
Slide back
slightly, turn the blade and make a side cut (blocked by
Shidachi.) Osame.
